"Fragmentation and Redemption," an exhibit of sculptures by UNC Asheville senior Katie Johnson, will open with a reception at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, in Highsmith University Union Gallery on campus.
Theatre UNCA, UNC Asheville's Department of Drama mainstage season, presents "The Giver," Lois Lowry's Newberry Medal-winning book, adapted for the stage by Eric Coble, September 27-30 at the Carol Belk Theatre on the campus.
UNC Asheville is preparing to welcome 550 new Bulldogs to the campus community this Friday as freshmen move into their residence halls and get ready to start classes on Monday, Aug. 20. And when freshman and returning students arrive, they will find new, top-notch science labs, a modern new residence hall, and a greener, more energy-efficient campus.
The UNC Asheville Music Series at the Altamont Theatre continues at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 23, with faculty, students and alumni performing in an eclectic mix of styles. These monthly concerts are free and open to the public, at 18 Church Street in downtown Asheville.
Some 5,000 people will fill UNC Asheville's Main University Quadrangle beginning 9 a.m. Saturday, May 5, as the university holds its 84th annual Commencement ceremony. Among the 480 students who have earned diplomas, more than 430 are expected to participate in commencement. UNC Asheville's Class of 2012 comprises 731 graduates, including those who earned their diplomas in August and December 2011.
"I Carry You with Me," a new exhibit of garments by UNC Asheville senior art major Molly Martin, will open with a reception with the artist from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 4, in the Owen Hall second floor gallery on campus.
