UNC Asheville Hosts Exhibit by Windgate Fellow Sculptor Ben Reid

"Visiting Hours," an installation of six sculptures with moving elements by Raleigh artist Benjamin Reid, will be on view at UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union from June 17-August 5. An opening reception and artist talk will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 17, in the gallery. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

Music lovers of all ages will enjoy free concerts at UNC Asheville’s 28th annual Concerts on the Quad summer music series. Concerts get under way at 7 p.m. each Monday evening June 14-July 21 on UNC Asheville’s Quad. The series will conclude with special, ticketed performances of the Folkmoot USA Festival on July 24-25.

Great Smokies Writing Progam Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Special Event

UNC Asheville's Great Smokies Writing Program will celebrate its 10th anniversary and the recent launch of its online literary journal, "The Great Smokies Review," with a reading by local authors at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16. The free event will be held at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St., downtown Asheville.

Senior Holds Ceramic Art Exhibit on Campus

"Impressions," an exhibition of 40 pieces of functional, wood-fired ceramics by UNC Asheville senior Chelsea Mahan, will be on view in the UNC Asheville Highsmith University Union Gallery from May 14-25. An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 14, in the gallery.

Music Department Wraps Up Spring Concert Season with Gala Show

The UNC Asheville Music Department will wrap up the spring concert season with its annual Gala Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 2, in UNC Asheville's Lipinsky Auditorium. The concert will include performances from various UNC Asheville musical ensembles, from a string quartet to a vocal jazz ensemble. Tickets are $5 at the door.

UNC Asheville Holds Spring Ceramic and Art Sale

UNC Asheville's Art Department will hold its annual Spring Ceramic and Art Sale from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 30, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, in UNC Asheville's S. Tucker Cooke Gallery, located on the ground floor of Owen Hall. The sale is free and open to the public.

Four UNC Asheville Seniors Exhibit Work in Owen Hall

Four UNC Asheville senior will hold art exhibitions in Owen Hall April 30-May 11. Exhibitions on view in Owen Hall's Second Floor Gallery include printmaking works by Melanie Carrick, sculpture by Nicolette Carter, and paintings and drawings by James Stickney. The shows are a culmination of the students' work toward a bachelor’s degree or art minor at UNC Asheville.

Two UNC Asheville Seniors Hold Solo Art Exhibition on Campus

Two solo art exhibitions by UNC Asheville seniors will open April 30 on campus. An opening reception for Amber Harrelson-Williams' exhibition will be held from 5-7 p.m. in UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery in Ramsey Library followed by a reception for Christina Foosness' exhibition from 7-9 p.m. in UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union Gallery. All events are free and open to the public.
