UNC Asheville Students Share their Scenes from Across the Sea
(December 11, 2013)
Thomas (Ted) Kendrick studied at the National University in Ireland in Galway in Spring 2013, which is where he took an award-winning photo from the Slieve League Cliffs on the northwest coast of Donegal, Ireland.
“I knew the life skills that I learned here [while studying abroad] would be invaluable,” said Kendrick in his photo entry. “I was ready for something new and time away from Asheville. It refreshed my view of UNC Asheville.”
The experience also captured one of 10 top spots in UNC Asheville Study Abroad program’s 10th annual photo contest, sharing the award for general excellence with first place winner, Lisa Riggsbee, and third place recipient, Shonie Kuykendall.
Hannah Buessler, Maddie Hodges, Anna Testa, Sari-Rose Brown, Erin Sattler, and Lindsay Holton also placed in categories for portrait and landscape. Corey Hau won best in show.
The photos will be on display in Blowers Gallery for the month of April, with a reception on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, from noon to 1 p.m.
