(September 26, 2013)
UNC Asheville will host an Open House on campus on Saturday, September 28. The Asheville Citizen-Times Marathon, taking place in North Asheville that day, will create traffic changes on campus.
Prospective students can learn more about the academic departments and campus organizations that make UNC Asheville unique. Sit in on a class, talk with students and professors, and learn more about the campus community and the surrounding area of Asheville and Western North Carolina. For more information and a full schedule, visit the Admissions website.
The half marathon route will bring runners off Riverside Drive and onto Lookout Road and Barnard Avenue. The route then turns left onto Edgewood Drive and continues down University Heights to the traffic circle. Runners will then take the W.T. Weaver greenway to Broadway.
The race begins on Woodfin St downtown at 6:00 am. The UNC Asheville campus is at miles 10 and 11 of the half marathon course. The majority of the runners should be through the campus by 9:30 am that morning.
University Heights from the traffic circle to Edgewood Drive will be closed while the runners are on this portion of the course.
Because of this, please access campus for the September 28 Open House from I-26 and Campus Drive. You can find a campus map showing these locations here.
